Why Families Choose Elevated Distance Training for Youth Athletes

At Elevated Distance Training (EDT), we specialize in developing young runners the right way — with intention, expertise, and care. Our youth program is built to foster confidence, consistency, and a genuine love for running, while laying the foundation for long-term athletic success.

Whether an athlete is brand new to the sport, naturally talented, or already highly experienced, our coaching staff meets them exactly where they are and guides them forward with purpose.

What Makes EDT Different

✔ Individualized Development at Every Level

No two young athletes develop the same way — and we coach accordingly. Training is scaled and adapted to each athlete’s experience, age, and physical and mental readiness, ensuring progress without burnout or pressure.

✔ Expert Youth-Focused Coaching

Our coaches understand the physical, emotional, and developmental milestones of young runners. We know when to push, when to hold back, and how to build motivation while protecting long-term health.

✔ Confidence Before Performance

Results matter — but confidence comes first. Athletes learn how to train consistently, race with composure, and take pride in effort, setting them up for success far beyond youth sports.

✔ Positive, Inclusive Training Environment

EDT creates a welcoming culture where athletes feel safe, supported, and excited to show up. Our athletes grow not only as runners, but as teammates and leaders.

✔ Proven Results, Built the Right Way

Our approach develops strong, resilient runners who improve steadily over time — physically and mentally.

Seasonal Youth Development

Spring (Jan-Apr)

  •  Builds speed and endurance through structured, age-appropriate training
  • Introduces racing across track and road formats to develop confidence
  • Offers optional travel and varied competition experiences

Spring at EDT focuses on developing both speed and endurance while introducing athletes to a wide range of racing opportunities. Athletes may participate in indoor and outdoor track meets as well as select road races, using competition as a learning tool rather than pressure. Training and racing are thoughtfully managed to build confidence, excitement, and consistency while keeping the experience positive and motivating.

Summer (May–July)

  • Develops a strong aerobic base while maintaining speed and efficiency
  • Emphasizes race tactics, mechanics, and long-term progression
  • Provides optional track meets, a mid-summer 5K, and select travel opportunities

Summer training is intentionally balanced to help athletes grow stronger without burnout. Sessions focus on aerobic development, efficient movement, and race awareness, with opportunities to compete based on each athlete’s goals and readiness. Training volume and intensity are carefully monitored to support athletes coming off long seasons while setting them up for continued success.

Fall (September–December)

  •  Cross-country focused season with local Front Range competition
  • Builds endurance, toughness, and team culture
  • Offers postseason and national-level travel opportunities for all athletes

Fall is centered on cross-country development, with athletes competing locally throughout the regular season. Those who choose to participate in the postseason are invited to travel to national events with the team, creating a powerful and memorable experience. All athletes are encouraged and welcomed, reinforcing confidence, belonging, and pride in the process.
